Tarsem Singh's Movie - The Fall

For fans of Lee Pace from Pushing Daisies, you will be happy to find him as Roy Walker as the lead star in The Fall, a 2006 film by Tarsem Singh.

Taken from Wiki,

"The movie's story centers around Roy Walker, a bedridden man in a hospital, who befriends a fellow patient, a young girl called Alexandria, and starts telling her a vivid, fantastical story of exotic lands. The trailer names a group of five steampunk staple heroes, an Indian, an ex-slave, an explosive expert, a masked bandit, and in a bit of revisionist history, famed evolutionary biologist Charles Darwin. They unite to fight a common enemy, Gov. Odious, the "bad man."The Fall premiered at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival. For its wide theatrical release in 2008, the film is presented by David Fincher & Spike Jonze."

With stunning visuals and wonderful music, this is one show definitely worth watching! The only problem is wondering if it will be shown in theaters here in Singapore! I really hope they do because this is something you really have to watch on the big screen to really enjoy it.

Check out some of the movie stills and the trailer at the end. Awesome movie I say!

Bread Baking Day!

We made bread today!

Cousin Priscilla came over today, hoping to bake something from her children's cookbook. So with lots of help with her "Gu Ma", my mom taught her how to make bread~! I did help too ok! Although it was only a small part, it was the most important step - mixing and kneading of the dough! XD The girl was busy "massaging" the dough instead of kneading it. It was so funny that my mom and I couldn't stop laughing! So on to the picturessss...

Priscilla darling~

Busta Rhymes Ft. Linkin Park - We Made It

We Made It
By Busta Rhymes ft. Linkin Park

Lyrics

Colour Codes
Chester Bennington
Busta Rhymes
Mike Shinoda

Together we made it

We made it even though we had our backs up against the wall

See it niggas i survived the worst but my life is glorious
But I know that I live to be hurdled and i'm so victorious
Take a look I'm a symbol of greatness now call it Morpheus
As force accumalted the wind and but a believe I'm so notorious
Didn't know I've been buying my bread even though we rapping now (yes)
And now when you look on my trip and you a nigga higher level tramping now
And you see that everyone on my middle struggers and
For your ass is never been an option
A nigga paper long like we was on the trap and the hood choppin
Get it!

Chorus
Together we made it (you see we did it niggas)
We made it even though we had our backs up against the wall (c'mon)
Forever we waited (haha!)
And they told us we were never going to get it
but we took it on the road (through the riches)
on the road (through the ghetto)
on the roooooad (and the projects to this bangin instrumental)
on the road (ride with me) yeah, yeah
on the road (you come and get it) yeah, yeah
on the roooooooad yeah, yeah, yeah, yo!

When it all got started we was steadily just getting rejected
And it seemed like nothing we could do would ever get us respected
And thus we was stressed and the worst they probably said was we're pathetic
Had all the pieces to that puzzle just a way to get connected
And I was fighting through every ryhme tighting up every line
Never resting the question and I was out of my mind
And it finally came time to do it or let it die
So put the chips on the table and told me to let it ride
Sing it!

Chorus
Together we made it (you see we did it niggas)
We made it even though we had our backs up against the wall (c'mon)
Forever we waited (haha!)
And they told us we were never going to get it
but we took it on the road (through the riches)
on the road (through the ghetto)
on the roooooad (and the projects to this bangin instrumental)
on the road (ride with me)
on the road (you come and get it)
on the roooooooad

Look in case you misunderstanded exactly what I'm building
Shit that I could live for my children (children) children (children)
Now I only wake up I smile to see how far I've come
Fighting for sales on a strip to get hustle from
From nights in jail on a bench using my muscles son
To count money like Dre, Jimmy and Russell Ones
But now I live when I dream you see me finally getting it
Let's make a toast to the hustle regardless how we get it
Singing

Absinthe Lollipops!

Look what I found in my mailbox today!

My Absinthe Lollipops that I ordered from the States last week arrived today!

"Our Absinthe Lollipops are really freaking awesome. And we say that without even an ounce of hubris- people go crazy (not like, cut-your-ear-off crazy, tho) for them. We're pretty sure they're the ultimate party favor- the combination of absinthe's mystique and the inherent sexiness of lollipops is a pretty explosive one.

They are made with real (and completely legal!) absinthe, with no artificial colors or flavors at all. Cheers!"

-Lollyphile-

Made of Sugar, Corn Syrup and Absinthe, this 'alcoholic' lollipop is a definite must have for parties! I tried one earlier and the distinct taste of absinthe filled my taste buds immediately! Not exactly very cheap but its worth the try! =)

Parcel waiting for me from San Francisco! XD

A box of dozen absinthe lollipops!

Upclose view of one lollipop!

Because I still about 10 lollipops left, for those who would like to try it, I'm selling the rest at S$5 each (includes postage to local address). Do drop me a mail if you are interested!

Mother's Day Special Deals!

Happy Belated Mother's Day to all mothers out there! I love all the mother day specials that were going on everywhere! Firstly, because of mother's day, I finally got my NEW 5MP Camera Samsung Soul phone for only $98!!

Singtel, YOU ARE THE BEST!

When Samsung G800 hit the local markets a while ago, being an avid fan of Samsung, I was really tempted to get it. However, the bulkiness of the phone turned me off (moreover, the price was still very steep). Deciding to be patient, I waited, hoping that a better high resolution camera phone would come out. True enough, Samsung soul was released! Not only did it have the functions of G800 (5MP), it was half the size!!

The design, colour and functions are amazing too!

Color & Design:

The black and silver colour, together with the slide up/down design makes the phone look sleek and classy. It isn't as slim as the Ultra slim series of course, but definitely slim enough to fit into the pockets of your jeans nicely~ =) The phone consists of normal buttons and a touch screen panel, allowing you to select via the touch buttons or the normal buttons. I was actually afraid that the touch screen would be problematic because most of the touch screen phones that I've tried were really too sensitive that it got annoying. This time, the sensitivity of the touch screen is just right and the sensitivity is even adjustable if you don't like it! The colours of the touch panel are changeable too! Nice! =)

Features

The special features of this phone include

1. User created theme, where you are able to create your own theme using background images and colours of your own. I haven't really played around with it much but the default themes in the phone are already pretty. If you would like to customize it, there are 2 options for you to choose from: Easy & Expert.

The easy mode is obviously pretty much straightforward, all you have to do is change the background image, tweak some colours and there you have it! Your newly created theme.

The expert mode however is a little more complicated. You can adjust its layers, the colours, background and more which isn't really too hard if you follow the instructions.

2. MobileBlog, which I think is awesome because you can upload photos or videos directly on to your websites or blogs on the go. It is powered by ShoZu. Other mobile phone users would usually have to download the application from the website before being able to use it, but Samsung Soul has it pre-installed in your phone so its really very convenient.

3. RSS reader so that you can get your latest tabloids or news from any webbies.

4. Camera and Camcorder, which are the key features for me in a phone.
As I already mentioned, the inbuilt camera has a 5MP resolution with macro function and a really powerful flash perfect for night shots! The flash not only works for the camera but the camcorder as well! This is REALLY useful when it comes to filming at night, you too can film your own Blair Witch Project now! XD

5. Music player AND FM radio! The sound quality I believe has improved compared to my older samsung phones. You can now synchronise your phone with Windows Media Player. The FM radio can only be operated through the earphones though

6. Digital data printing comes in real handy when you need to print something really urgently but do not have a PC to do so. With digital data printing, all you have to do is find a printer and print out your images, messages or personal data directly from your phone!

7. Lastly, it is 3G therefore you can have much greater data transfer speed, video streaming and video conferencing. OK honestly, I'm not really sure what 3G can do but all I know is that because of 3G I can use my mobile anywhere in the world, including Japan where the network is different from ours, thus making it an important feature for me.

I guess a video would explain it much better so check out the french commercial below. (I couldn't find any other ads)

Here are some of the pictures that I took with my new phone during our mini Mother's day dinner at Bedok Camp

Nasi Ayam Penyet
The chicken was fantastic although my sis said that the one at Lucky Plaza was much better. Looks like i got to try it for myself!

Tahu Goreng

Tahu Telur
Also known as fried beancurd with eggs, this is absolutely HEAVENLY. I'm not really a die hard fan of beancurd but this dish is really yummy. If you like Tahu Goreng (above) you will definitely love this as well because this is SOOO much better!HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Crispy and soft at the same time! 5 Stars!!

Beef and Mutton Satay

Indian Rojak

Kumbing Soup

Mom and Dad busy eating to notice the camera!

I also bought myself a pair of Dr. Martens 1460 that I was dying to get for only US$108 (originally US$139)!! I heard that its S$169 at retail price here in Singapore. So since the current exchange rate is USD1.37 per SGD, I saved about S$21! AND I don't even have to go out to get them, they will be delivered to my doorstep!

So anyways, I saw this fantastic deal when I was browsing Shoebuy.com. They were having a mother's day special and all you have to do is enter MOM2008 at checkout and you get 20% off your purchase immediately! PLUS, if you register for a new account, being a first time buyer, you get an additional 10% off! So that's a total of 30%! So what are you waiting for?? Head down to Shoebuy.com before midnight (US time) to get this great buy!

Now look at that! Isn't it gorgeous??

Watermelon Cookies! Super Cute!

Here's what I did today while I was procrastinating instead of studying for my upcoming paper this thursday - Baking watermelon cookies!

So after making the dough out of flour, egg, butter and icing sugar, I separated the dough into 3 equal portions and added the respective food dye to each.

Uncoloured (or yellow), Green and Red

Next I made many small balls out of the red and wrapped each red ball with the uncoloured dough. It was then repeated with the green dough.

Half completed and completed balls

All rolled and ready to chill in the fridge to harden before baking

Once hardened, I took them out from the fridge and sliced them as though I'm slicing a watermelon~ add some sesame seeds and voila~ this is what you get!

Unfortunately, after baking, the watermelon slices flattened out. =(

Here are the flattened watermelon slices and mini carrots that I made out of the balance dough.

Cute right? I couldn't have done it without my mom who helped me roll the biscuits! Not an easy task ok. XD Great and simple to make! I can't wait to make more!!

Cute Ideas for Bento Sets

Wonder how you can make these wonderful bentos for lunch? Now you can over at Lunch in a Box! Not only do they look great, they are easy and quick to prepare! The following is one of my favourite post by her where she teaches us how to make great eggs in the shape of a cow or a pig!

so first of all, this bento lunch consists of just rice, egg, some beans and blueberries!
simple ingredients but it looks awesome!

So how do we make our rice and eggs into mini animals?

First of all, make sure you have moulds like these.

They don't have to be special moulds for eggs (although they do have egg moulds) or rice. Simple ice-cream sandwich moulds will do, similar to the above which the author had used.

All you have to do is to place the hard boiled eggs while its hot into the moulds, then make sure you close it with the plunger tightly and place them in cold water.
Once done, VOILA! Your hard boiled eggs will turn out shaped like these!

To get it coloured as above, all you need to do is soak the eggs in food dye after removing the eggs out of the moulds. Cute ya? =)

Read the rest of the tutorial and more over HERE by the author herself!

Since we are on the topic of bento, here's a cute video of an ang moh singing a bento song before eating at a Japanese pre-school.

This ang moh kid is super adorable! He doesn't look like he knows the words! かわいい!!!

Here was what they sang/said:

Obento obento
Obento obento, ureshii na
Nan demo tabemasho, yoku kande
Minna sorotte goaisatsu

Spoken
Otousan Okaasan, oishii obento
Itadakimasu, nokosazu ni tabemashou ne
Itadakimasu, dozo meshiagare

Translation:
Obento obento obento
Obento obento, So happy (hooray!)
Let’s eat anything & chew it well
Now that we’re all together,
Let’s say “Let’s eat”

Father mother, delicious obento
"Let's eat", let us eat and not leave anything behind
"Let's eat", please start eating!

The actual lyrics and song can be found at THIS PAGE (slightly different from the above)

Super cute ya? XD
